SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

At 4myschools, we are currently working in partnership with a number of welcoming and inclusive mainstream schools in the Thetford area, including those with Specialist Resource Bases (SRB) and SHIP provisions, who are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join them on a daily supply basis with immediate start availability. These schools are committed to creating a nurturing, structured and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially. As a daily supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and cognition and learning difficulties. Your responsibilities may include providing 1:1 and small-group support, assisting pupils to access the mainstream curriculum, supporting learning within SRB or SHIP units, implementing strategies set out in EHCPs, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils develop independence, communication skills and emotional regulation. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff to ensure consistency, safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority, while adapting confidently to different school environments on a day-to-day basis.\n
\nThe ideal candidate will have previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant within a mainstream or specialist setting, or hold strong subject knowledge and understanding of special educational needs. You will be patient, adaptable and confident supporting pupils across different age groups and needs, including those educated within SRB or SHIP provisions. An understanding of inclusive practice and the ability to follow personalised support plans is essential. This role is available for an immediate start and offers both part-time and full-time daily supply opportunities, providing excellent flexibility to suit your lifestyle and availability. Working hours will typically follow the school day, making this an ideal option for those seeking a better work-life balance or varied experience across schools. Due to the location of schools across Thetford and surrounding areas, access to your own transport or the ability to travel independently is essential. All candidates must be reliable, professional and committed to making a positive difference to pupils with additional needs.\n
