Quantity Surveyor - Civils

Your new companyYou will be joining a highly respected and specialist contractor based in Coventry operating across the highways, rail and environmental sectors. This multi-accredited and well-established contractor delivers projects valued up to £6m for the Environment Agency, National Highways and HS2, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. They have a strong pipeline of work and, due to continued success, they are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is a full-time remote position with office and site travel as and when required.

Working hours: 8:30am - 17:00pm

Your new roleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring financial performance, managing risk and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing subcontract accounts, from procurement to final account settlement
\n
• Reviewing and negotiating contract conditions (primarily NEC)
\n
• Monitoring project costs, revenue and profitability through CVR analysis
\n
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment and resolving disputes or delays
\n
• Identifying, valuing and agreeing variations and change orders
\n
• Producing commercial forecasts, final accounts and loss & expense claims
\n
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure contractual compliance
\n
• Monitoring project performance and supporting risk management.
\n

What you'll need to succeedTo excel in this role, you will bring:

\n
• Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
\n
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract, ideally Options A and B
\n
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes
\n
• Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and analytical skills
\n
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
\n
• Strong communication skills with experience liaising with clients and stakeholders
\n
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites across the UK as and when required (overnight stays are rare).
\n
