Project Engineer Electrical

Job Description

Role Overview: * Support the Project Manager in delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) or Mechanical projects within the gas and process industry, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution * Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across the full project lifecycle from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover * Assist with project planning, schedules, budgets, risk management, and reporting while supporting project reviews and governance * Review and coordinate engineering deliverables, including specifications, control philosophies, drawings, and technical documentation, liaising with suppliers, contractors, and site teams * Support commissioning, start-up activities, and ensure technical requirements are met throughout delivery * Participate in process safety studies (HAZCON, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA) and manage close-out of actions, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements * Act as a key interface between clients, internal teams, and stakeholders, attending meetings, providing updates, and maintaining strong working relationships * Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality processes, and Management of Change (MoC), supporting audits, inspections, and overall project assurance Requirements: * Degree, HNC, or HND in Electrical, Mechanical, Control & Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline * Experience within gas, oil & gas, energy, or process industries * Understanding of the engineering project lifecycle and process safety principles * Experience supporting or participating in HAZOP, HAZID, HAZCON, LOPA, or risk assessments * Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, automation, or mechanical/project engineering (depending on discipline) * Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills The Ideal Candidate: * Organised and proactive with the ability to manage multiple project priorities * Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality * Confident working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders * Problem-solver with a practical and collaborative approach * Flexible and able to support both office-based and site-based activities
