Location: Devonport \n\nRate: £450-£500 a day (45 hours a week)\nContract: 12 Months, likelihood of extension \n\nAgent - Major Infrastructure Project (Southwest)\n\nA pivotal role on one of the UK's most complex engineering programmes\n\nAn exceptional opportunity has arisen for an Agent to join a site‑based delivery team supporting a major infrastructure project in the Southwest. This role places the successful candidate at the heart of one of the most challenging and technically demanding programmes in the UK, with responsibility for leading and overseeing construction activities at site level.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeadership & Culture - Provides strong, positive leadership in a client‑facing environment, championing a culture of safety, quality, and professional behaviours.\nSubcontractor Coordination - Manages and aligns subcontractor activities, chairing regular coordination meetings to ensure efficient and collaborative delivery.\nSenior Leadership Reporting - Reports effectively to senior leadership teams across multiple project functions, both directly and indirectly.\nCross‑Functional Collaboration - Works closely with site teams and business functions to enable progress and resolve constraints.\nRisk & Opportunity Management - Identifies risks and opportunities, maintaining the project Risk Register in partnership with relevant functions.\nTechnical Scrutiny - Reviews drawings and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and buildability.\nIntelligent Oversight - Oversees site activities, raising TQs, RFIs, NCRs, and ensuring adherence to project standards and expectations.\nHealth & Safety Compliance - Ensures full compliance with legislation, site rules, SSoWs, RAMS, permits, and governance arrangements.\nTeam Development - Supports training and development for subcontractors, supervisors, and site teams.\nScheduling & Programming - Leads detailed scheduling and programming of site activities with subcontractors and internal teams.\nMeetings & Documentation - Coordinates H&S and progress meetings and ensures all documentation is completed for project handover. \n\nKnowledge, Skills & Experience\n\nEssential\n\n5+ years of site experience in a similar role.\nStrong technical understanding of construction techniques and best practice.\nProven leadership experience on complex projects or programmes.\nAbility to build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders and partners.\nAdaptability and resilience in fast‑changing environments.\nProficiency in MS Office, scheduling software, and document management systems.Desirable\n\nBIM / Digital Engineering (Autodesk, Bentley).\nScheduling tools (Aphex, P6).\nBehavioural Safety or Safety Leadership experience.\nExperience in regulated environments and complex project delivery.\nStrong understanding of construction legislation (HSAWA, CDM).\nKnowledge of NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.\nCommercial, financial, and analytical capability with a solution‑focused mindset.

\n\nQualifications\n\nEssential\n\nDegree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.\nRelevant CSCS card.Desirable\n\nChartered status (or working toward it).\nProject Management training (APM, Prince2).\nNEC PM accreditation.\nNuclear training (e.g., Triple Bar).\nSMSTS / IOSH / Senior Leaders Safety.\nAdditional site qualifications (e.g., Appointed Person, Confined Spaces, Temporary Works). \n\nThis vacancy is being advertised by Belcan
