MS631 - Manual Machinist\n\nSalary: £15 per hour    \n\nLocation: Nottingham \n\nOverview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Manual Machinist on behalf of one of our clients.\n\nTo undertake machining works as directed by the Department Supervisor and Workshop Manager. Control and operation of the machine shop equipment such as CNC, milling machines, pillar drill and lathes.\n\nOur client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities:\n\nReview samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.\nPlan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.\nTake measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.\nRead and interpret CAD drawings in order to select correct machinery.\nAbility to work from samples.\nSelect appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.\nDetermine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.\nMonitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.\nCheck output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.\nKeep records of approved and defective units or final products.\nPerform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.\nOperation of Lathes, milling machines, slotters, grinders and pillar drill.\nCNC operation.\nAbility to read blueprints and measuring devices such as callipers, micrometres and vernier.\nUnderstanding and experience with ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics and copper.\nMaintains safe operation of equipment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.\nMaintains a safe and clean work environment.\nCan work on own initiative or as a team member.\nBatch or single item works.\nPerform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Workshop Manager.\nSkills and Qualifications:\n\nProven experience as machinist.\nOn Call/Rota availability.\nExperience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.\nExperience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines.\nExperience with welding and balancing would be beneficial.\nAbility to use precision tools (e.g.

callipers) to take accurate measurements.\nAbility to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.\nGood at math with analytical abilities.\nComputer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint).\nExcellent communication and time management skills.\nExperience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.\nKnowledge of speeds and feeds.\nKnowledge of safety protocols and PPE.\nAttention to detail with good communications skills
